Product Description
Camellia japonica is an elegant, long-lived evergreen shrub prized for its glossy, deep green foliage and spectacular seasonal flowers. With a naturally bushy habit and attractive year-round foliage, Camellias provide structure and interest even when they are not in flower.
From late winter into spring, Camellia japonica produces beautiful blooms in a range of colours, including shades of pink, red and white, depending on the variety. Flower forms can also vary between cultivars, making each variety distinctive while retaining the classic beauty and character associated with Camellias.
Camellias are particularly well suited to partial or full shade and benefit from a sheltered position protected from cold winds and early morning sun. They make excellent feature shrubs in borders and woodland-style gardens, while more compact plants can also be grown successfully in large containers using suitable ericaceous compost.
For best results, plant in acidic or neutral, moist but well-drained soil. Camellias are relatively low maintenance once established and, with their evergreen foliage and beautiful seasonal flowering, make an attractive addition to gardens throughout the year.

Keep the soil consistently moist, particularly during dry periods and while the plant is becoming established.

Avoid planting where the Camellia will receive strong early morning sun, as sudden temperature changes can damage developing flowers.

Mulch around the base with suitable organic matter to help retain moisture and maintain healthy soil conditions.
-
Water container-grown plants regularly, ensuring excess water can drain freely.
-
Prune lightly after flowering if required to maintain shape or remove damaged growth.
Add timeless evergreen structure and beautiful seasonal colour to your garden with a Camellia japonica β a classic choice for sheltered borders, shaded planting and containers.
