Product Description
The Monkey Puzzle Tree (Araucaria araucana) is one of the world’s most recognisable conifers, admired for its bold silhouette and unusual branches covered in stiff, glossy, dark green triangular leaves. Native to Chile and Argentina, this ancient evergreen brings year-round structure and character to larger landscapes.
As it matures, the tree develops an impressive architectural form with evenly spaced branches that create a striking sculptural effect. Mature specimens may produce large cones, with male and female cones developing on separate trees. Its dramatic appearance makes it an outstanding choice as a standalone specimen where it has plenty of space to grow and showcase its unique shape.
Ideal for east, south or west-facing positions, the Monkey Puzzle Tree performs best in a sheltered location with moist, well-drained soil. It is adaptable to acidic, neutral or alkaline soils and rewards patient gardeners with decades of year-round evergreen interest.
